Project Details

Located in the heart of the city, Sofitel Darling Harbour is a unique hotel constructed on the waterfront and adjacent to the Darling Harbour International Convention Centre. It is a statement in the Harbour City. Turner Brothers worked with Guthrie Douglas to design shading systems with maximum flexibility for end-user operation that were custom built to suit various shapes and sizes of windows.

Turner Brothers also worked with CRE to design an automated system that uses sun tracking capabilities with an override function. The system was designed to control the operation of the pull up and drop down shading systems according to the sun’s position, with an override function for the lower levels to position them at the desired height, thereby reducing the glare.

By working closely with the designer and the developer, Turner Brothers was able to understand the client’s needs and develop a unique holistic system fit for the dramatic height of level 35.
