Turner Bros was engaged to supply and install a complete hotel window furnishing solution for Holiday Inn Express Auckland, a 19-storey, 294-room hotel located in the heart of Auckland's CBD. The project required a high-performance blackout blind system capable of delivering exceptional light control, privacy and guest comfort. With airline crew, business travellers and international guests regularly staying at the hotel, achieving complete room darkening was a critical requirement to support quality rest at any hour of the day.

To meet these performance objectives, Turner Bros supplied and installed dual roller blind systems throughout the guest rooms, combining full blockout roller blinds with sheer roller blinds. This hotel window treatment solution provides guests with the flexibility to manage privacy, natural light and external views during the day, while ensuring complete darkness when required. The result is a functional and refined shading solution that enhances the guest experience while meeting the operational requirements of a modern hospitality environment.

As with many large-scale commercial blind installations, the project presented several technical challenges that required careful planning and innovation. Due to restrictions associated with the building façade, traditional fixing methods could not be used and drilling into the façade was not permitted. Drawing on extensive experience in commercial window shading and hospitality projects, the Turner Bros team engineered a bespoke installation solution to secure side channels and headboxes. This approach allowed the blinds to achieve the required blackout performance without compromising the building envelope.

The installation was completed during the COVID-19 pandemic, requiring the team to adapt to evolving site conditions and strict safety protocols. Through detailed coordination, smaller on-site crews and careful project management, Turner Bros maintained progress while complying with all site requirements. Despite restrictions on access and working arrangements, the project was delivered in line with the construction programme and client expectations.
