Project Details

This project involved the design and installation of a bespoke skylight tensioned shading system within the Brisbane Airport’s security screening area.

Positioned 18 metres above floor level, the existing structure presented significant constraints, as it had not been designed to support shading systems. The solution required careful consideration to fire safety infrastructure, including sprinkler and exhaust systems, while ensuring zero unfiltered light within the screening zone.

Working in collaboration with Architectus, a custom system was developed featuring 64 tensioned shading systems. Due to the limitations of the existing thin window frames, bespoke aluminium angle supports were engineered by our team to provide secure fixing points and ensure safe operation.

All installation works were completed while the airport remained fully operational, with no disruption to daily activities.
